    Itinerary

Day 1MARRAKECH – AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZATE – DADES GORGE

Your 3 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga begins early in the morning with a scenic departure from Marrakech toward the High Atlas Mountains. As you leave Marrakech behind, the landscape gradually transforms into winding mountain roads, dramatic peaks, and traditional Berber villages perched along the hillsides.

You will cross the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters above sea level), the highest mountain pass in Morocco. Along the way, there will be several panoramic stops for photographs, allowing you to admire the spectacular scenery and observe authentic rural life in the Atlas region.

Midday, you will arrive at the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages. This ancient ksar, built from earthen clay architecture, has been featured in many international films and series. During your guided visit, you will explore its narrow alleys, climb to the top for panoramic desert views, and learn about its rich history and cultural significance.

After lunch near Ait Ben Haddou, the journey continues toward the Valley of Roses and onward to the breathtaking Dades Valley. This region is famous for its unusual rock formations, known as the “Monkey Fingers,” and its lush palm groves contrasting against the arid mountains.

In the evening, check in to your charming hotel or riad. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner prepared with local ingredients, and relax as you prepare for the Sahara adventure awaiting you the next day.

Day 2DADES GORGES – TENGHIR – TODRA GORGES – TINJDAD – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA (CAMEL EXCURSION NIGHT IN DESERT)

On the second day of your 3 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, you will travel toward the spectacular Todra Gorge, one of the most impressive natural canyons in the country. Towering cliffs rise dramatically up to 300 meters, creating a narrow passage carved by the river over centuries.

You will have time to walk through the gorge, admire the immense rock walls, and take stunning photos. This area is also popular among climbers and nature lovers.

The journey continues through the oasis town of Tinghir and across vast desert landscapes dotted with acacia trees and small Berber settlements. As you approach Merzouga, the scenery becomes increasingly arid until suddenly the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon.

Upon arrival in Merzouga, you will prepare for one of the highlights of your entire Morocco trip: a camel trekking experience across the Sahara Desert. Accompanied by experienced camel guides, you will ride into the dunes during the late afternoon, when the colors of the sand shift beautifully under the setting sun.

Watching the Sahara sunset from the top of a dune is truly magical. The silence of the desert, the warm tones of the sand, and the endless horizon create a moment you will never forget.

After sunset, you will arrive at your desert camp, where a warm welcome awaits you. Enjoy traditional Moroccan mint tea, followed by a delicious dinner under the stars. In the evening, local hosts will play authentic Berber music around the campfire, creating a unique and immersive cultural experience.

Spend the night in a comfortable desert tent (standard or luxury option available), surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of the Sahara.

Day 3SAHARA SUNRISE – OUARZAZAT – RETURN TO MARRAKECH

The final day of your 3 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga starts with a magical sunrise over the dunes. As the first light of day touches the golden sands, the desert transforms into a breathtaking landscape of soft colors and shadows.

After breakfast at the camp, you will ride camels back to Merzouga (or transfer by 4×4 vehicle if preferred). From there, begin your scenic return journey toward Marrakech.

You will pass through Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Hollywood of Africa,” known for its film studios and desert landscapes. Enjoy photo stops and short breaks along the way as you cross the Atlas Mountains once more.

During the drive, you will have time to relax, reflect on your desert adventure, and admire the changing landscapes from desert plains to mountain scenery.
